The world never ceases to amaze.

So… this morning I let a kid into the part to use the pay phone to call for a ride then had another supervisor escort him out. On his way out he got his hand stamped for reentry which he later tired to use to get into the park. I stopped the kid and his 4 friends/cousins/whatevers from getting in at least 4 times (they never paid to get in). I can understand the first try… it was actually not an unclever thing. Even the second time I can understand because I had walked away. After that, it was just stupid. Ever security guard at the front gate knew his face, the day manager knew his face, most of the front gate personnel knew his face… what the hell?

More fun stories of IT… So the power went out at Wyandot today. Not a huge deal. Some of the rides were shut down for checks and such… but nothing major… unless you are at a water park that hasn’t had any real capital improvement in 9 years. Our UPS… yeah… uninterruptable my ass. All of my database servers died alond with our email server, pos server, credit card server, and ticketing server (although the last 2 I didn’t know about untill much later). I happened to be in our season pass processing center at the time so I knew what happened right away, and despite my pretty consistent bitching about the pos UPS I got most systems back up in around 10 minutes. Unfortunately the GM happened to be in season pass too so he was like “whats going on?” because he wanted to make a nice announcement to the people in season pass… That really isn’t the fun part of the story… 45 minutes to an hour later I get flagged down by the front gate sup and she tells me that the “ticket scanners are double beeping” and asks me who to tell. “Me.” So yeah… for 45+ minutes our ticketing scanners weren’t doing jack and no one bothered to tell me. YAY! Oh yeah… my boss also had me stay till 7 so I could replace all the UPS batteries.

Pissed off in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…

Apparently I get to fling mud in my Xanga now… anyone have a really old catapult or even a ballista? Side note: Xanga has a place for comments for a reason.

I’d like to just leave it at “my mistake”, but my ego is deafening. Read what you want, but don’t assume you know what you’re reading or why it is there. Don’t read between the lines unless you know whats currently going on in my head. Even if you think you know me well, which is certainly possible, bad things happen that you don’t know about that I’m not apt to tell anyone and I’m am certainly free to comment on it if I so chose with out ridicule or pedantic and obtuse comments. [The those of you who don’t know the words pedantic or obtuse, the preceding sentence was in itself pedantic and President Bush is obtuse.] I’d also like to point out before someone cares to attack me without reason, I am using “you” as a plurative.
</annoyed_rant> XML anyone? (yes I know its not really XML without the root, piss off)

I realize this placement sucks… but skip the above if you really don’t like me… it will just piss you off more.

I had a… unique (read tiring) weekend. I started off with a lovely phone call at 8:54AM from Wyandot telling me they needed me to life guard. Of course that meant that there was only 1 guard in CI and they needed me to meet state minimums. I grudgingly obliged and missed all my classes. 7 hours later I was finally relieved (by someone who’s name I can’t remember but for some reason I do know she likes pineapples and anything covered in chocolate). Friday night was abysmally boring… mostly because I could barely move after standing/walking on a knee that I wrecked the night before climbing.

Saturday I was supposed to go home again, but no such luck. I woke up around 8AM to go back to Wyandot but had a wonderful migraine. Went back to sleep woke up at noon, took a few Ibuprofen and sat in traffic for an hour trying to get into Wyandot. The only saving grace of this weekend is that I did end up “asking” the girl from work to go to dinner. She was unfortunately otherwise occupied but at least I can say I tried (and she didn’t say “no”). My reason for not asking will still forever remain hidden.

Sunday wasn’t crappy, but could still use some work. I’m still having problems getting to sleep so I didn’t goto bed until 5AM Sunday, which means I didn’t get out of bed until 1PM or so. I then spent the rest of the day doing homework…. which it frightens me how used to that I’m getting.

Words are a most wonderous and powerful tool.

But care must be taken, the wrong emphasis can give the wrong meaning.

I’m having a unique day… read the private post below if you can. For some reason I couldn’t get to sleep last night. The lack of sleep may explain my day or at least give me an “excuse” for it.

Wyandot wasn’t very fun today. I didn’t quite get everything done. I replace 2 motherboards, upgraded 5 POS machines, fixed a miswired network, installed random software, and had to deal with customers who wanted season passes. I was there till 8 because I completely stopped watching the time right around the time I found out corporate botched the server.

Definitely going to the Caribbean during the summer and I think Mike, March, Red, and Jake are coming. I’ll offer to Brian and Tim and see what they say. I’m gonna start looking at trips in Naples, Athens, Rome, Dublin, and London just in case Quakecon doesn’t happen.
